Today (9 Aug 2017) the newly appointed PUM Country Coordinator for Bangladesh Mr. Wim Heijser called on the Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal at the Embassy.
Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal welcomed Mr. Heijser and briefed him on the on-going development spree in Bangladesh. He also described in short the whole dimension of the bilateral relations. Taking into account the PUM expertise and Bangladesh reality, Ambassador Belal asked for added emphasis on ICT, agriculture, dairy, flower, leather, healthcare and fashion design. Mr. Heijser expressed his high hope and requested for Embassy’s support. During the meeting First Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Istiaque Ahmed and Senior Project Officer Murielle Klier van der Pol were also present.
It may be mentioned that PUM is an organization who provides business advice and technical assistance to organisations in developing countries and emerging markets though volunteer senior experts free of charge. The services of these experts would otherwise cost quite high if contracted through own effort.
An advisory mission takes two weeks. During this period a senior expert works at the work floor and leaves practical recommendations for follow up. The expert supports the client remotely with the implementation of the recommendations, using e-mail or Skype.
During last few years PUM activities in Bangladesh got good momentum. Number of projects almost tripled in last 3 years. Number of projects in food and beverage, agriculture, poultry feed, ICT, health care dominates.
Anybody in Bangladesh want PUM advice for free can contact PUM local representatives.
