Today, the Bangladesh Embassy in the Netherlands solemnly observed 21st February –National Martyr’s Day & International Mother Language Day 2025 with due respect and deep reverence for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of the Bangla language.
His Excellency Ambassador Tareque Muhammad, along with officials of the Embassy and members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in the Netherlands, gathered at the Shaheed Minar in Zuiderpark, The Hague, to pay tribute to the valiant language martyrs of 1952. The ceremony commenced with the laying of floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, followed by the song- ‘amar bhai er rokte rangano….’ to honor the martyrs who fought for the right to speak in their mother tongue.
The event underscored the significance of International Mother Language Day, which is now observed worldwide to promote linguistic diversity and the preservation of native languages. In his remarks, Ambassador Tareque Muhammad reflected on the profound sacrifices of the language movement heroes and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the Bangla language and culture globally.
